Supermarionation gets the stamp of approval…
It’s a good job nobody sends letters anymore, as no Gerry Anderson fan will want to part with the latest stamp set from Royal Mail.
As well as six standard stamps, celebrating Joe 90, Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, Stingray, Fireball XL5 and Supercar, the UK also gets its first ever ‘motionstamps’ in the shape of four lenticular images of Thunderbirds 1 to 4 taking off.
The stamps are available individually, but be sure to pick up the complete presentation pack from your nearest Post Office, which also includes a gorgeous mini-comic in the style of TV Century 21, by original TV21 artist Gerry Embleton.
A lovingly designed backing card also includes a short interview with Gerry Anderson, while a separate card for the motionstamps has an explanation of the technology behind them – courtesy of Brains himself! Simon Hugo
VERDICT: 10/10
With stamps like these, philately will get you everywhere.
