The Far East becomes a focus for attention for Bryce Varley and FBI agent Demetri Noh...

It's inevitable, given the set up of the series, that some episodes are likely to veer towards soap opera territory, and Believe falls firmly into this category. Dominic Monaghan and Jack Davenport get the week off, with no real movement on the conspiracy front, and the few scenes featuring FBI agents are there to set up the following episode, as the NSA reveal that they have a recording of the woman who knows about Demetri's murder.

The main plotline explains why Dr Bryce Varley was going to commit suicide on the day of the Flashforward, and follows his attempts to locate the girl from his vision. There are a couple too many coincidences for this to be fully successful, but the final twist is a neat one (and saves on potential location costs).

Mark Benford's ability to annoy people comes to the fore again as he tries to learn who told his wife he was drinking in his Flashforward. It's starting to look like there's going to be a whole list of people wanting to shoot him once that day arrives!

A bit too much of a filler after some strong plot-driven instalments. Paul Simpson

VERDICT: 6/10
