A man wakes up in a mysterious underground setting and must find his way out...

Eden Log starts off with a man regaining consciousness in some kind of dark cave – with no idea how he got there – and the rest of the movie concerns his attempts to escape to the surface and find out what exactly is going on. Along the way, he stumbles across monsters, mysterious ladies, and ghostly figures, and encounters the mysterious Eden Log corporation…

If you’re a fan of the Cube films, you will probably like Eden Log, as it shares the same sense of intrigue, with the protagonist slowly finding out what is going on as the audience does. And it also shares the same budget – namely, low! It’s not very fair to hold this kind of thing against a movie, but the film does suffer a little in terms of everything being so dark – plus the acting isn’t stunning, and the monsters are a little bit rubbish.

Still, the story is a lot more intriguing and involving than many mainstream sci-fi movies, and this one should definitely get some kind of cult following. Its creators are ones to watch out for in the future. Martin Eden

VERDICT: 6/10
Intriguing but there's nothing really eye-popping here.
