Andi's ex-boyfriend Greg reappears on the scene, but it turns out he has sold his soul to the Devil in order to win back his one true love. Meanwhile, Sam isn't getting much help from Satan and Ben's marriage is just weird, so the gang end up turning to...Gladys?

Things seem to be running smoothly for Sam and Andi now she knows about his extra-curricular activities. Cue entrance from a chainsaw-wielding freak who’s out to ruin things, along with the convenient re-appearance of Andi's old flame. At the same time Ben is stuck with his green card-hungry and now-pregnant wife Sara who is keeping him domesticated. Everyone's got problems. Sam's worries can't be solved by Satan though, as chainsaw man doesn't seem to be supernatural enough to warrant the Devil giving him the usual vessel.

The Devil concentrates all his energies on Sam's dilemma about whether to kill Greg. The Dark Lord really takes him to the edge, delighting in encouraging Sam to actively DO something about the situation, showing him Greg and Andi spending illicit quality time together and offering up large knives and sniper rifles at appropriate moments. Sam's convinced one of Greg's powers is the ability to seduce Andi, but is less sure about going down the dark path of killing Greg - even as Satan taunts him that “the only one playing by the rules...is you!”

Ben takes a somewhat more direct path through his problem - he gets with cute nurse Cassidy (Kandyse McClure, refreshingly chirpy after three years of hell on Battlestar) after an interminable number of dates in the imaginative (but conveniently secret) venue of the hospital cafeteria. The two really play well off of each other to make the gags work, and it’s a shame McClure wasn't brought into the fold earlier.

It's good to see the show getting the most out of the last instalments of the first season, and the episode manages to cram in three guest stars, chainsaws, wrecked cars and a classic line from the Terminator franchise. Owen Van Spall
