TV episode review
US airdate 20 March 2008 (The CW)
Sock convinces Sam and Ben to move into a condo with him while they try to take down an invisible hunter. Their gay neighbours, Steve and Tony, spoil them with home-cooked meals and their favourite drinks until the guys start getting dependent on them…
Reaper gets back into the groove with an episode that shoots along at a jaunty pace. With the soul-hunting slacker trio sharing a condo (or “Batcave” as Sock insists on calling it) but losing their independence to their sophisticated neighbours’ pancetta-wrapped shrimp delights, there are fewer dull moments than last week.
With his relationship with Andi on ice, the question of Cady's origins offers more questions than answers for Sam, which keeps the relationship B-plot interesting. As always, Ray Wise’s Satan nabs the best entrances (and exits) of any of the characters, this episode being no exception. It's comedy gold.Clearly Satan was not best pleased at being outdone in the previous episode; hence, in an amusing tribute to the film Predator, an invisible alien is put in Sam’s way. As a weapon, Sam wields merely a food processor, although Sock has his hands on it most of the time, having always coveted one. We know our guys are going to win, and there is something satisfying about watching Sock, Sam and Ben high-five after a righteous bust, but a twist at the end leaves things open. Owen Van Spall
VERDICT: 6/10
