Federico Zampaglione (pictured left) is a man determined to bring about a revival of the halcyon days of Italian horror.

Following a successful run at horror-fests, his gothic horror Shadow receives its UK release on 29 April (click here for the review). And today, in a press release, the filmmaker announced he will shortly be embarking on a new supernatural horror entitled Tulpa, which will shoot in Rome and North Africa.

Zampaglione said: “Tulpa is a term which comes from Tibetan Buddhism. It’s a kind of projection of your metaphysical part, which, through meditation, can become real. But sometimes tulpa goes the wrong way and turns unto an evil presence... which then wants to kill its creator. It's mysterious and creepy stuff.”

Tulpa is scripted by Dardano Sacchetti (pictured on right), the screenwriter who penned such greats as Bay of Blood, Zombie Flesh Eaters, City of the Living Dead and The Beyond.

Zampaglione will be attending a Q&A at the Empire in Leicester Square following Shadow’s first public screening there on Friday 29th April.
