Fox’s hugely entertaining weird-science drama Fringe has been renewed for a fourth season.

The show has been given a full season order for 22 episodes – and that’s despite the third season receiving low ratings (not helped by Fox moving it from Thursday to Friday nights).

We’re not complaining though. In many ways Season 3 has been the best series yet, and the outlandish story gets more and more intriguing by the episode.

Executive producer Joel Wyman said in a tweet: “"Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!" This was subsequently confirmed to Entertainment Weekly by a network spokeswoman.

Fringe Season 3 currently airs on Friday nights at 9pm.
