The Amazing Spider-Man writer James Vanderbilt will return to write the sequel to Marc Webb’s reboot, according to Heat Vision.

Though shooting hasn’t even finished on the webslinging adventure, Columbia were impressed enough to give Vanderbilt the go-ahead to pen a second instalment.

The writer has been involved in a new Spider-Man movie since it was conceived as Spider-Man 4, which was to be once again directed by Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire.

Heat Vision also says Vanderbilt has recently polished the script of the Total Recall reboot, which is due to start filming later this year.

The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield in the title role, will be released on 3rd July 2012.
