A Blu-ray edition of TRON is on its way, producer Donald Kushner has told Total Sci-Fi.

Kushner – who produced the original and acted as executive producer on TRON Legacy – told us: “I know it’s being digitally remastered, and I think that the remastered sound and picture will be far superior to the original… I don’t know when it’s coming, but I suspect the summer.”

The news will please a lot of TRON fans who may have been surprised the original wasn’t released on Blu-ray to capitalise on the release of TRON Legacy.

Kushner also told Total Sci-Fi he’s currently involved in rebooting another one of his past projects – the endearing 1987 animation The Brave Little Toaster. “We’re looking to do it in 3-D animation,” he said.
