Uncertainty over MGM’s future means the new 007 film has been suspended “indefinitely”.

Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they didn’t know when work on the 23rd film in the Bond franchise would re-start. In a joint statement, Wilson and Broccoli said, “Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely.”

The film was due for release in 2011 or 2012, with Daniel Craig returning as Bond. It now seems unlikely this will happen. Craig made a statement saying, “I have every confidence in Barbara and Michael's decision and look forward to production resuming as quickly as possible.”
