The BBC have announced plans to release a free episodic game via their website. The game will be called Doctor Who: The Adventure Games and will feature both Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan as his companion, Amy Pond.
The game will be made up of four parts, and sees the Doctor take part in four different adventures. It will be scripted by Phil Ford (The Waters of Mars) and James Moran (Torchwood: Children of Earth).
Speaking about the game, Who showrunner Steven Moffat said, “Children don’t just watch Doctor Who – they join in. They make up games, invent their monsters, create their own stories. Now, there’s something else – now they can be the Doctor in brand new episodes.”
”There aren’t 13 episodes of Doctor Who this year. There are 17 – four of which are interactive,” said head of drama, Piers Wagner. “Everything you see and experience within the game is part of the Doctor Who universe: we’ll be taking you to places you’ve only ever dreamed about seeing – including locations impossible to create on television.”
The game is due for release on the BBC’s website in June.
The Doctor Who episode The Beast Below will air this Saturday at 6.15pm on BBC1.
