Fans missing the adventures of the Galactica will be able to create new adventures in NBC Universal's new Battlestar Galactica Online game, set to launch this autumn.

Created in partnership with global market leader Bigpoint, the game will combine tactical space combat, exploration and mission-based gameplay. The missions will define the overall game storyline, with users able to play as either Cylons or Humans.

The 3D game is being developed on Unity technology which means players will not need to download large pieces of software.

Universal Partnerships & Licensing's Bill Kispert explained that "Battlestar Galactica is a supremely gameable intellectual property, with compelling character classes, a fantastic array of ships and weaponry, multiple worlds, and a dramatic storyline. We are excited to work with Bigpoint – and our partners at Universal Cable Productions and Syfy – to bring an epic, accessible, and always on BSG experience to fans of the franchise and online gamers alike."

Battlestar Galactica Online will initially launch on Syfy.com.
