Hancock director Peter Berg has confirmed that a sequel to Will Smith's superhero comedy is definitely going ahead.
Speaking at the Toronto Film Festival, Berg said that, "Everybody's going to come back for a sequel.” Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman were the stars of the 2008 movie. Variety suggests that the sequel will focus on the 3,000 year old world is home to the immortal gods– played by Smith and Theron, with Bateman once again playing a PR executive.
Reacting to the news, Sony indicated that no official deals have yet been signed, since there is not yet a complete script. However Berg is working with Dexter's Adam Fierro and The Shield's Glen Mazzara on the screenplay, and anticipates it will be ready shortly.
The original film earned $624 million worldwide, so a sequel has been seen as inevitable.
