Hiro's doomed love, waitress Charlie, is to reappear in the show's fourth year.

As played by Jayma Mays, Charlie was one of the first onscreen victims of Zachary Quinto's Sylar. Hiro travelled back in time to try to save her but was unsuccessful.

The character proved so popular with fans that the love affair between her and Hiro, referred to but not seen on the show, became the subject of the first tie-in novel to the show, Saving Charlie.

Jayma Mays will be reprising her role for the single episode, which NBC anticipates will air in November. Speculation is rife online that Charlie will be used in some way by Robert Knepper's villainous Samuel in an effort to control Hiro.
