Moonlight, the CBS vampire detective drama, will not be returning for a second season.
Following declining ratings for the episodes which aired following the conclusion of the Writers Guild of America strike, the network has elected not to continue the adventures of the vampire private detective. Last week's episode only achieved a 2.0 rating in the critical 18-49 age group.
Fans had organised a campaign to ensure the show's survival by making blood donations, in the same way that Jericho fans had sent nuts to the network to gain their series' renewal last year. Unfortunately after Jericho's failure to capture a new audience in its reprieved second season, it is highly unlikely that the network will give Moonlight a similar opportunity.
