Total Sci-Fi has teamed up with Titan Magazines to find out once and for all who are the best villains in some of sci-fi’s biggest franchises. Together, we want to know the diabolical masterminds who have sent a shiver down your spine and set your heart pounding – and the evil geniuses who make it seem good to be bad.

The top villain from each franchise will appear on a special series of commemorative covers from Titan Magazines, to be revealed later this year. So read on to find out how to cast your votes!

Heroes Magazine

Easy choice, right? Think again – they named a whole season ‘Villains’, so there are plenty of sinister characters in contention for the top title. Maybe Mr. Linderman’s shady manoeuvring makes your skin crawl like nothing else? Perhaps Jessica Sanders’ ruthless spite has you glued to the screen? Or does Peter Petrelli in bad-guy mode bring that extra frisson that trumps all contenders? See – it’s not so straightforward after all…

Lost Magazine

As the epic story of Lost has unfolded over the years, the line between good and evil, hero and villain, has been distinctly fuzzy. Good guys have become bad guys and vice versa, while non-human entities have also played malevolent roles in the characters’ plights. We’re asking you to think outside the box on this one – tell us whose dark side has had you transfixed, and when!

Smallville Magazine

Every good super hero needs a worthy adversary, and Clark Kent has already faced more than his fair share on his path towards becoming Superman. Perhaps you think the calculating Lex Luthor has been the biggest threat, or even his ruthless replacement, Tess Mercer? Then again, the monstrous Doomsday caused widespread destruction, as did his alter ego Davis Bloome, when he killed Chloe’s husband, Jimmy… Which villain among Clark’s rogues gallery do you think has been the most evil?

The Smallville Villains poll has now closed.

Abrams’ exhilarating reboot – there’s no shortage of adversaries to choose from. So let us know which of Trek’s titans of terror you love to hate the most!

Star Wars Insider

You want villains from a galaxy far, far away? Well it’s not all about Darth Vader! How about his master, the evil Emperor Palpatine who plotted and murdered his way to supreme power? Or Boba Fett, the deadly bounty hunter who single-mindedly hunts his prey without mercy or pity? Then there’s Grievous, the cyborg general, who leads a droid army to crush his foes and his master, the dreaded Count Dooku, whose evil ways are concealed beneath a suave, sophisticated exterior! Stargate Magazine

Stargate SG-1’s signature villains were the Goa’uld, serpent parasites who took over Human hosts and tried to conquer the galaxy, personified by the evil Ba’al. Stargate: Atlantis had the Wraith, a long-dormant hive-based species who thrive by harvesting the life force of others, represented by the morally ambiguous Todd. Other Stargate nasties include the fundamentalist Ori, led by the duplicitous Doci, and the machine race known as the Replicators, created by the seemingly innocent Reese. Just as well we have the ever-vigilant Stargate teams to defend us from these multiple villains!

Supernatural Magazine

Sam and Dean Winchester hunt all manner of spirits and monsters on a daily basis, but some of their adversaries have been truly evil schemers! Perhaps you think the “Yellow-Eyed Demon” Azazel, with his overarching plans, was the nastiest? Or maybe the malicious first demon, Lilith? Then there’s the turncoat Ruby, who betrayed Sam, or the torturer demon Alastair, who tried to make Dean his apprentice in Hell. Or perhaps the fallen angel Uriel was the worst, for killing his own kind to raise Lucifer? You’re almost spoilt for choice!
